Col. Bob McCarthy, a Police Transition Team leader with Regimental Combat Team 5, 1st Marine Division, kneels down to speak some words of encouragement to a recovering Riyam Shihan. The Police Transition Teams and Surgical Units responsible for saving her are deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq (MNF-W) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic government reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi Reconstruction.
