A contractor from the National Response Corporation Environmental Services tests samples of hazardous materials while aboard the barge Amazon, one of seven vessels being cleaned up during Coast Guard operations, at a submerged-land site on the Columbia River near Goble, Ore., June 2, 2017.
More than 45,000 gallons of oil and oily water have been pumped off the vessels and more than one ton of hazardous waste has been removed during the two-week operation.
