161121-N-TN557-025 SAN DIEGO (Nov. 21, 2016) – Dr. Mark Bilinski, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) scientist, assists a Sailor during a virtual reality demonstration on board the amphibious transport dock ship USS Anchorage (LPD 23). The week prior, three-dimensional images were produced during a ship scan event of various shipboard spaces on Anchorage. The SPAWAR 3D scanning team recently received the 2016 Secretary of the Navy’s innovation award in the category of automated process development for their development of virtual and augmented reality during an official ceremony on June 5, 2017.
