Soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, 140th Aviation, Colorado National Guard based out of Buckley Air Force Base, conduct a major emergency response exercise alongside firefighters with Rocky Mountain Fire District 6, Boulder Colo., May 31, 2017. A UH-72 Lakota helicopter was used in the simulated hoist rescue mission scenario. The hoist technique is used by MEDEVAC crews to extract patients from an area where a helicopter normally could not land and allows the flight medic to begin treating them immediately.
