ATLANTIC OCEAN (May 26, 2017)—Hospitalman Matthew Tipton, from Gray, Tennessee, assigned to Pre-Commissioning Unit Gerald R. Ford’s (CVN 78) dental department, receives a White House Medical Unit recognition certificate at an awards at quarters ceremony on the ship’s flight deck. The future USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) – the first new U.S. aircraft carrier design in 40 years spent several days conducting acceptance trials, a comprehensive test of many of the ship’s key systems and technologies.
