Navy Rear Adm. Mathias Winter, the Deputy Program Executive Officer for the
F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office was promoted to Vice Admiral on May
24, 2017. Winter later assumed responsibility as the Program Executive
Officer for the F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office from his predecessor,
Air Force Lt. Gen. Christopher Bogdan, who will officially retire in June.
The F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office is the DoD's agency responsible
for developing and acquiring the F-35 Lightning II next-generation strike
aircraft weapon system for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and many
