Artillerymen from the Romanian 285th Field Artillery Battalion fire am M1981 152mm towed gun-howitzer during a combined arms live-fire exercise with the U.S. Company C, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, and Battery A, 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery Regiment, at Smardan Training Area, Romania, April 20, 2017. Both U.S. units are with the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, conducting bilateral training with the Romanian 282nd Mechanized Brigade as part of U.S. Army Europe's Atlantic Resolve mission, which provides a persistent presence to deter aggression in eastern Europe while reassuring allies of the U.S. commitment to NATO.
