A group of military personnel in green t-shirts and camouflage pants are engaged in a rope-pull exercise on a paved surface at what appears to be a forward operating base. A timekeeper in the foreground holds a stopwatch, monitoring the activity. In the background, a military helicopter and a large tan fabric hangar structure are visible alongside a Humvee.

Sgt. Matthew Marsh, a CH-53D crew chief with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 362, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), controls the stop-watch for the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle pull during the Ugly Games. The Marines have worked 65 days without a day off since their arrival in September and the competition was hosted to give Marines a break from their day-to-day work routine.
