Samuel J. Boyce, a pediatrics patient at Naval Medical Center San Diego, pets a three banded armadillo from the San Diego Zoo. The Zoo Express program visits NMCSD throughout the year to raise morale for patients and add fun and diversity to their recovery. Other animals that were included in the program were a great horned owl, a hedgehog, a sugar glider and a lesser anteater.
