U.S. Army Maj. Christopher Walsh, a Paratrooper deployed in support of Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve and assigned to 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, awaits reception of the Médaille De La Défense Nationale during a ceremony near Erbil, Iraq, April 26, 2017. Walsh received the award for his assistance in the coordination of movements and operations with the French and U.S. artillery as they fire in support of maneuvering Iraqi security forces. The 2nd BCT, 82nd Abn. Div. enables their Iraqi security forces partners through the advise and assist mission, contributing planning, intelligence collection and analysis, force protection, and precision fires to achieve the military defeat of ISIS.
