The air traffic controller career field is broken down into two parts: tower and radar, both work together to ensure that aircraft launch, fly and arrive safely. RAPCON's main mission is to work with larger distances and the planes that cannot be visually seen. Air traffic controllers go through extensive training since there is a 50 to 60 percent washout rate after technical school.
