PACIFIC OCEAN (April 3, 2017) Cmdr. Ryan Billington, oncoming commanding officer of the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Howard (DDG 83), salutes Cmdr. Amy Mcinnis, off-going commanding officer, during a change of command ceremony on the flight deck. Howard is currently underway conducting a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group in preparation for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX tests the mission readiness of the strike group’s assets through simulated real-world scenarios and their ability to perform as an integrated unit.
