EAST CHINA SEA (March 30, 2017) Lt. j.g. Michael Bernhardt uses a stadimeter to calculate the distance between the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) and the Henry J. Kaiser-class fleet replenishment oiler USNS Pecos (T-AO 197) during a replenishment-at-sea. Bonhomme Richard is the flagship of it's expeditionary strike group, which is on a routine patrol operating in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to enhance warfighting readiness and posture forward as a ready-response force for any type of contingency.
