SAN DIEGO (March 31, 2017) Independence-class littoral combat ship USS Jackson (LCS 6), top, renders honors to Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) after she exits the harbor as part of the Sterett-Dewey Surface Action Group. The Sterett-Dewey SAG is the third deploying group operating under the command and control construct called 3rd Fleet Forward. The first iteration in recent history occurred in 2016 with the Pacific Surface Action Group (PACSAG) deployment and was further executed with the January 2017 deployment of the Carl Vinson Strike Group.
