Present-day recognition for past performance... Retired Chief Boatswain Mate Jerry Irvine (left) and retired Chief Storekeeper Gene Hanson were honored for their many contributions on active duty at a recent Naval Base Kitsap Fleet and Family Support Center's ‘Heroes’ Welcome’ celebratory event that acknowledged the many sacrifices of Navy and Marine Corps active duty and activated Reservist Individual Augmentees and their family members, as well as those from a generation before such as Irvine and Hanson.
