Nevada Guard’s flood response proves historic

    LEMMON VALLEY, NV, UNITED STATES

    03.23.2017

Photo by Tech. Sgt. Emerson Marcus

Nevada Joint Force Headquarters Public Affairs

This photo taken March 23, 2017 from a Nevada National Guard Blackhawk helicopter shows the northern portion of Lemmon Valley, Nev., a neighborhood about 10 miles north of Reno. Record-setting precipitation and continued snowmelt from the nearby Sierra Nevada mountain range has flooded homes and forced some to evacuate. A four-mile HESCO barrier was constructed (seen in this photo) to halt the progression of standing water, which is expected to rise 2 feet more as snowmelt continues with warmer temperatures this spring and summer.
