This photo taken March 23, 2017 from a Nevada National Guard Blackhawk helicopter shows the northern portion of Lemmon Valley, Nev., a neighborhood about 10 miles north of Reno. Record-setting precipitation and continued snowmelt from the nearby Sierra Nevada mountain range has flooded homes and forced some to evacuate. A four-mile HESCO barrier was constructed (seen in this photo) to halt the progression of standing water, which is expected to rise 2 feet more as snowmelt continues with warmer temperatures this spring and summer.
