FORT GORDON, Ga., March 24, 2017 – Jamie Atkins, a U.S. Forest Service fire management officer, conducts chainsaw training through classroom instruction and practical exercise to ensure Georgia National Guardsmen are prepared to respond to natural disasters. Vigilant Guard 17 gives the Georgia National Guard an opportunity to train with local state and federal agencies in preparation for emergencies or catastrophic events.
