Lance Cpl. Hans Hagy, a squad leader, and Lance Cpl. Alexis Diaz, a machine gunner with Echo Co., Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, engage simulated targets while participating in a mechanized raid as part of Amphibious Integrated Training (AIT) at Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Okinawa, Japan, March 15, 2017. AIT assimilates the capabilities of the 31st MEU Marine Air-Ground Task Force and the amphibious ships of the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group to conduct ship to shore operations. As the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed unit, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit's air-ground-logistics team provides a flexible force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations, from limited combat to humanitarian assistance operations, throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
