Phyllis Fitzgerald, Junction City mayor, dons a red bandana as she speaks of “Rosie the Riveter,” who became cultural icon for women in the work place during World War II, March 15 during the Women’s History Month observance at Riley’s Conference Center. Fitzgerald completed 21 years of active-duty service and retired as a chief warrant officer 3 intelligence officer who deployed to Desert Storm with the 1st Infantry Division. (Spc.
