    Tim Sloat, who served with 1st Marine Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment during the Vietnam War, handles a Type 14 pistol outside 1/1’s command post after the building’s dedication ceremony aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Sept. 15. Attendees of the ceremony toured the new command post and could hold weapons that Marines and their foes once used.
