    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

    A Marine Corps AAV-P7/A1 assault amphibious vehicle with Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, maneuvers off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, March 8, 2017. AAVs maneuvered into the well deck of USS Ashland (LSD 48) as part of the 31st MEU's regularly scheduled spring patrol aboard ships of the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group. As the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed unit, the 31st MEU air-ground-logistics team provides a flexible force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations, from limited combat to humanitarian assistance operations, throughout the Indo-Asia Pacific region.
