Aviation Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Marquavais Curney (26), assigned to Naval Station Norfolk Unaccompanied Housing, has been in the Navy for 7 years. He is originally from Atlanta, Ga. and attended Creek Side High School. Curney joined the U.S. Navy to be a part of the world's biggest team. He always played sports and had been a part of a team. He contributes to the overall mission as a Command Fitness Leader helping Sailors maintain their fitness to support mission readiness. As a Career Counselor he motivates Sailors to stay Navy. His favorite sports team is the Dallas Cowboys.
What makes him unique is that he is a highly motivated and selfless Sailor, community member, and father. He as three reasons for his dedication to the Armed Forces; Marquavais Jr. (4), Logan (3), and Maliyah (2). He has been warded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
