DJIBOUTI, Africa (Jan. 18, 2017) U.S. Marine Master Sgt. Alfonso Salazar, the assistant operations chief with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, kicks a soccer ball during a friendly soccer game between U.S. Marines and locals in Djibouti, Jan. 18. While in Djibouti, Marines took the opportunity to interact with locals by playing a scrimmage soccer game and conducting physical training. Interaction with the local populace is an important part of a MEU’s deployment as it gives the Marines and Sailors an opportunity to interact with the communities in which they are deployed and add to their experience as ambassadors of the U.S. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl.
