Marines with India Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 2, patrol through the area of Kajaki, Sept. 8, to keep the enemy away from the Kajaki Dam. “The reason we are here is to protect the dam,” said, Capt. Thomas Kearns, the India Battery executive officer from Bordentown, N.J. “We have found that the best way of doing that is actively engaging the enemy. If we actively go out and make contact with the enemy and continue to push them farther and farther back it will help with future operations.”
