Cody S. Childers was killed Aug. 20, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. “He wasn’t even in the [operating forces] a year yet, and already people looked up to him,” said Lance Cpl. James Rogers, his team leader. “I always knew if something happened to me and the team needed someone to lead it, he would do a great job.”
