Lieutenant Commander Jeffrey J. Ross, the command chaplain for Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Africa, gives the invocation for a transfer of authority ceremony for Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 266 and Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 764 at Morón Air Base, Spain, Feb. 1, 2017. From August 2016 through January 2017, the SPMAGTF Aviation Combat Element, composed of VMM-266 and Marines from Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 252, flew more than 2,300 hours, carrying more than 3,000 passengers and nearly two million pounds of cargo and fuel in support of SPMAGTF-CR-AF. The ACE supported multiple bilateral exercises in Africa and Europe and supported simultaneous crisis response operations, resulting in the highest aircraft utilization rate in the history of the SPMAGTF.
