On Sept. 30, 2006, a flag detail displays the Iraqi colors in a graduation ceremony at Camp Habbaniyah. More than 300 soldiers went through five weeks of training to learn the fundamentals of marksmanship, urban patrols, and search and clear operations. A national recruiting initiative hopes to bring in 30,000 troops and support classes of 1,850 soldiers by May 2007, said Colonel Joel P. Garland, the basic combat training liaison officer for Multi-National Force - West. The national initiative begins in October. The Coalition Military Assistance Transition Team is deployed with I MEF (FWD) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq (MNF-W) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic government reforms, and continue the development of a market based economy centered on Iraqi Reconstruction.
