ARTA BEACH, Djibouti (Dec. 20, 2016) U.S. Navy Seaman Cecilia Olayo-Espinoza bears a uniform flag to help a landing craft utility (LCU) identify its landing zone during exercise Alligator Dagger at Arta Beach, Djibouti, Dec. 20. Olayo-Espinoza with Beach Master Unit (BMU) 1 serves as a flagman, who signals out to vessels at sea safe locations to land and offload. The unilateral exercise provides an opportunity for the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and 11th MEU to train in amphibious operations within the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations. The 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is currently supporting U.S. 5th Fleet’s mission to promote and maintain stability and security in the region. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Xzavior T.
