Two soldiers in different uniforms are engaged in what appears to be a military training or coordination exercise in an arid, red-soil terrain. One soldier wears green camouflage with a maroon beret, while the other wears desert-tan combat gear with a helmet and goggles. The soldier in tan gear is pointing in a specific direction, suggesting tactical communication or instruction.

Staff Sgt. Raymondhan Maeang, a platoon sergeant with 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines, demonstrates the course of fire during a live fire exercise with Mozambican troops Aug. 5 in Boane as part of Exercise SHARED ACCORD 2010. The 80 leathernecks, most from 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines, went through a combat marksmanship course of fire before about 200 Mozambican soldiers took their turn, firing a 10-round string of fire from 75-150 meters away from their targets while Marines stood by offering advice. Earlier the Marines led he Mozambican soldiers through a class on Marine Corps small arms weaponry and weapons handling procedures. SA 10, which is coordinated by U.S. Africa Command’s Marine component, U.S. Marine Forces Africa, brings together more than 1,000 U.S. service members and Mozambican soldiers for the purpose of increasing Mozambique’s capacity to carry out peace and stability operations.
