(Dec. 23, 2016) Guided-missile destroyer USS Sampson (DDG 102) arrives at its homeport after participating in an Oceania Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI) with U.S. Coast Guard's 14th District in the Western Pacific Ocean. For the duration of its deployment, the ship reported to U.S. 3rd Fleet, headquartered in San Diego, as part of the U.S. Pacific Fleet-led initiative to extend the command and control functions of 3rd Fleet into the region.
