U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Dec. 6, 2016) Marines with Bravo Co., Battalion Landing Team 1st Bn., 4th Marines, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, set their amphibious assault vehicles into a defensive posture after an amphibious landing during Exercise Alligator Dagger, Dec. 6. The distinct ability of amphibious forces to gain access to critical areas anywhere in the world with ground, air, and logistics forces enables the Navy-Marine Corps team to shape actions across the range of military operations to resolve conflict, conduct humanitarian assistance or combat the enemy in remote, austere environments that would otherwise be inaccessible.
