A black-and-white photograph captures two women engaged in a resistance training exercise outdoors, where one person is pulling the other using a resistance band or strap. The woman in the rear is in a low squat position, pulling back with visible exertion and an open-mouthed expression of effort, while the woman in front leans forward straining against the resistance. A third person is visible in the background observing or participating in the training session.

Katelen Van Aken provides resistance to another poolee of Recruiting Substation Dover, N.H., during a weekly workout in Dover, Oct. 6, 2016. Van Aken is one of four recruits currently training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., who are the first females enlisted with infantry contracts. While some of the female Marines who participated in the gender integration tests earlier this year have been approved for career field changes into the infantry field, these four women shipped to recruit training with the intent of heading to the School of Infantry following boot camp graduation.
