Petty Officer 2nd Class James Hlavaty, an electronics technician sonar, Petty Officer 2nd Class Brandon Beals, a technician surface, Petty Officer 2nd Class Gene Griffin, an aviation maintenance administrationman, Petty Officer 2nd Class Kevin Godsey, a fire control technician, and Petty Officer 2nd Class John Herod, an aviation ordnanceman, all assigned to Navy Recruiting Command, are volunteering to assist residents at Naval Support Activity Mid-South recover household goods. Major flooding resulted after two days of rain May 1 and 2 dumped more than 14 inches in the area, causing a drainage ditch on the east side of the base to spill over and flood parts of the base.
