Air Force Tech Sgt. David Diamond participates in the "Blackened Canteen" ceremony at the USS Arizona Memorial, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Dec. 6, 2016. During the ceremony, as an offering of peace, Japanese and U.S. representatives pour bourbon whiskey into the hallowed waters at the memorial from a canteen recovered from the crash site in Japan of two American bombers. The crash in June 1945 killed both air crews; 2,000 Japanese citizens were killed in the air raid on the Japanese city of Shizuoka. DoD photo by Lisa Ferdinando
