Petty Officer 3rd Class Ian Polage, assigned to Naval Medical Center San Diego Patient Relations Department, listens to a homeless veteran’s heartbeat through a stethoscope during the 23rd annual Veterans Village of San Diego Veteran Stand Down. Stand down is a community-based intervention program designed to help homeless veterans across San Diego County. For the past 21 years, NMCSD staff have volunteered medical care. This year more than 195 military and civilian staff from NMCSD provided medical care.
