World War II Veterans, Pearl Harbor Survivors Attend USS Oklahoma Ceremony

161207-N-FK070-579 PEARL HARBOR (Dec. 7, 2016) Rear Adm. Michael Holland, assigned to U.S. Pacific Fleet, speaks to Peter Nichols, a Pearl Harbor survivor, for his service following the USS Oklahoma Memorial Service on the 75th anniversary of the attacks on Pearl Harbor and Oahu. Nichols was assigned to the USS Oklahoma and transferred to Kaneohe Bay Naval Air Station just before the attack on Dec. 7, 1941. The U.S. military and the State of Hawaii are hosting a series of remembrance events throughout the week to honor the courage and sacrifices of those who served during Dec. 7, 1941 and throughout the Pacific Theater. As a Pacific nation, the U.S. is committed to continue its responsibility of protecting the Pacific sea-lanes, advancing international ideals and relationships, well as delivering security, influence and responsiveness in the region.
