PACIFIC OCEAN, At Sea (November 2, 2016) – A Marine with Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, fires his M45A1 pistol during a live-fire range aboard the USS Makin Island (LHD 8), while afloat in the Pacific Ocean, Nov. 2, 2016. As part of the deck shoot, the Marines practiced quickly transitioning from their rifle to their sidearm to continue firing at the target. The 11th MEU, part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility in support security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
