Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team Bravo shields Chad Elton, a simulated hostage, after being released by the simulated insurgent during an active shooter exercise outside the Hobby Shop at Hurlburt Field, Fla., July 12. The active shooter exercise tested the effectiveness of Hurlburt Field’s emergency response units, as well as those of local law enforcement and medical teams. Chad, age 13, is the son of Col. Buck Elton, 1st Special Operations Group commander.
