Jonathan Hoffman, a Northfield, Vt., teacher and humanitarian, accepts a commanders coin from U.S. Army Col. Will Roy, Task Force Wolverine, 86th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Mountain) commander. Hoffman, who helped Afghans finance and build more than 11 schools during the past nine summers in poor, rural Afghanistan communities, is building his latest school in Bamyan province, which is in TF Wolverine’s area of responsibilty. Hoffman is visiting the Vermont-based 86th IBCT because he has built a few schools in memory of Master Sgt. Tom Stone, a Vermont National Guardsman who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2006.
