TARBORO, N.C. – North Carolina Army National Guard Sgt. Jack McDonald (standing), of the 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, and Sgt. William Cayton, both of the 875th Engineer Company, configure a strainer on a pump that is rerouting water from the downtown area to a nearby river here, Oct. 16, 2016. McDonald is holding a pole under the pump to elevate it so Cayton can reconfigure the strainer. The two soldiers stand in water most of the day to unclog the pumps and/or help add new pump pipes. Although the town is still under about 8-feet of water, the soldiers are willing to do the work until the work is done. (Photo by Army National Guard Sgt.
