U.S. Marine Col. Thomas Prentice, commanding officer of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Southern Command, awards Staff Sgt Daniel Hanko, airframe staff non-commissioned officer in charge with SPMAGTF-SC, the Joint Service Achievement Medal for ensuring two aircrafts were in an up and ready status to support the delivery of food in Haiti in support of Joint Task Force Matthew in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, Soto Cano Air base, Honduras, Oct. 20, 2016. JTF Matthew, a U.S. Southern Command-directed team was comprised of over 400 Marines, soldiers, sailors and airmen and supported the U.S. Agency of International Development’s disaster relief operations in Haiti by providing critical airlift capabilities during the vital early stages after the island country was struck by Hurricane Matthew.
