“First Lightning” Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, train on the Paladin Oct. 6 during a weeklong leaders Oct. 3-6 course at Fort Riley. The leaders course teaches fire direction officers what enlisted personnel are trained to do as they maintain functionality of the artillery system. The Paladin M109A6 is a cannon artillery system and is soon to be upgraded to a M109A7, which the 1-7 FA Regt., will train with in November. (Spc. Elizabeth Payne, 1st Inf. Div.
