Petty Officer 1st Class Thomas Lorenc, hospital corpsman, from Merden, Conn., performs a joint biological agent identification diagnostic system simulation in the medical lab aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Nassau. JBADS can detect biological warfare agents such as anthrax and viruses. Nassau is the command platform for the Nassau Amphibious Ready Group supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
