Capt. Jason Smith explains the concept of ‘Maide Liesg’ during the Camp Hansen Highland Games in Okinawa, Japan, Sept. 30, 2016. The objective of this game is to raise the opponent off the ground while pulling against each other. The event mixed Scottish and Celtic culture with competition between supporting units on Camp Hansen. Participants of the games competed in stone put, sheaf toss, and other trials of strength.
