NORTH FIELD, Tinian (Sept. 20, 2016) – U.S. Navy Seaman Apprentice Arturo Castro, a steel worker with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11, camouflages himself before a helicopter raid for Valiant Shield 2016 (VS16). MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft inserted K Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, near the objective where U.S. Marines and Seabees acted as the aggressive force. VS16 is a biennial, U.S.-only, field training exercise (FTX) with a focus on integration of joint training among U.S. forces. This training enables real-world proficiency in sustaining joint forces through detecting, locating, tracking and engaging units at sea, in the air, on land, and in cyberspace in response to a range of mission areas.
