(Sept. 16, 2016) – Chief Aviation Structural Mechanic Christian Evangelista, from Passaic, New Jersey, salutes as he passes through the “side-boys” in the Naval Base Kitsap Bangor Chapel during the fiscal year 2017 Chief Petty Officer (CPO) pinning ceremony. The CPO pinning ceremony is a unique tradition to the Navy; the chief petty officer paygrade was created April 1, 1893.
