VMM-262 Marines refine night takeoff, landing capabilities

Sailors with the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) signal an approaching aircraft belonging to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, during low-light takeoff and landing training in the waters of the Commonwealth Northern Mariana Islands, Sept. 18, 2016. During the training, Marines with VMM-262 (Rein.) and flight deck crew with the BHR refined low-light takeoff and landing procedures. The 31st MEU is currently embarked aboard the ships of the Bonhomme Richard Expeditionary Strike Group as part of a routine patrol of the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. As the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed unit, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit is prepared to respond to a wide range of military operations, from humanitarian assistance missions to limited combat operations, at a moment’s notice.
