YAKIMA TRAINING CENTER, Wash. – A 12th Regiment, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Soldier places a flower at the Korean and Vietnam War Memorial at Greenway Park, Yakima, Wash. Sept. 6. The Soldier placed one of the eight flowers laid at the monument. Every year, Japanese Soldier participating in Rising Thunder to honor the fallen Soldiers in this manner by presenting white flowers for purity. Rising Thunder is an annual bilateral exercise between U.S. and Japanese forces.
