160903-N-VR008-046 SAN PEDRO, California (Sept. 3, 2016) – Yeoman 2nd Class Brian Leyva, a Los Angeles native assigned to amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6), is honored at an LA Galaxy soccer game as “Hero of The Game” in which military, police and firefighters are recognized for their service during the inaugural Los Angeles Fleet Week. Fleet week offers the public an opportunity to tour ships, meet Sailors, Marines, and members of the Coast Guard and gain a better understanding of how the sea services support the national defense of the United States and freedom of the seas.
