Marines take final leap to become assault climbers

Lance Cpl. Paul Auth, a rifleman with Company K, Battalion Landing Team 3/8, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, lowers a ladder to assist the rest of his squad up the side of a cliff during a class at the Assault Climbers Course in Kingwood, W.Va., May 3. Each group was required to lift an injured Marine and his gear up a cliff face, cross between two cliffs and then maneuver down the other side. The Assault Climbers Course is one of several Special Operations Training Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, events as part of 26th MEU's preparation for deployment this fall.
